    One-to-One Tutoring

One-to-One Tutoring provides individual tutoring to neighborhood elementary children for two hours on Saturdays in Lerner Hall. Tutoring is open to any elementary student and enrollment is not school-specific. A tutor encourage tutees to develop healthy studying habits and assists them in developing the tools required to persevere in their studies and face challenging concepts with confidence.

If interested in becoming a volunteer tutor with One-to-One, please email us at one2oneweekendtutoring@gmail.com

Program Hours: Saturdays for 1.5 hours. Tutor sessions happen weekly and on Columbia campus, the exact meet up time is arranged with the parent/guardian and tutor.

Volunteer Commitment: 1.5 hours every Saturday between 10:30-2pm.

One-to-One Tutoring is a program open to the community. To enroll your child in the program, students must live in the Morningside Heights, Washington Heights and Harlem communities.

It’s especially rewarding to work with one kid for the whole year because you get to know them and their families well. My tutee now feels like my younger sister, and she trusts me to be there for her. We have a great relationship.

It’s a great opportunity to reach out to our neighboring community and help those who need it. Working one on one with the same student makes a big difference. It’s more than just about tutoring; it’s also about mentoring and helping someone develop as a person.
