Apply to be a Student Executive
Want to be a student executive next year?  Applications are due at midnight on March 29th.  The application is available here. More information about the student executive position is included below. Please contact the current execs directly (ciexecs@columbia.edu) if you have specific questions.

Responsibilities
The Community Impact (CI) Student Executive Board strives to support CI’s mission of advancing the public good by engaging Columbia University students in high-quality service. The Student Executive board works closely with the CI program coordinators, CI Board of Directors, CI staff, Columbia University administrators, Columbia University faculty, and CI partner agencies to develop new and strengthen past initiatives for the continued improvement of CI and community service at Columbia.

The Student Executive board is highly collaborative and shares many responsibilities. Execs will spend about half of their time on shared responsibilities, including advising 3 to 4 CI groups, attending weekly staff and Student Executive meetings, and assisting as needed in all major Community Impact Events. Additionally, these responsibilities include liasoning with other student groups, joining committees on the Board of Directors, and any new initiatives that the board might want to pursue. For example, in the past year the board decided to institute succession guidelines, plan collaborative group trainings, rework our evaluations system, and rework the advising system.

In addition to the shared responsibilities, each student exec will have a distinct role:
Treasurer
Marketing
Internal Affairs
Event Planner
Community Relations
Operations Officer

What Else Do They Do?
Though being a Student Executive is a huge commitment, student executives are also involved in other places around campus. Most of our student executives remain volunteers and coordinators with their Community Impact groups. On campus our student executives have been in many activities including RAs, CPAs, URC, Wind Ensemble, Kenneth Cole Community Engagement Fellow, Columbia Science Review, worked various campus jobs (TIC, CUIT, TAing), among other things. Additionally, our Student Executives have found the experience easily translatable to many different jobs and internships including Consulting (Booz and Co, Monitor Group, Accenture), Finance (Goldman Sachs), Marketing(Carnegie Hall, L’Oreal), fellowships abroad, and research positions(SURF), among other things.
