AmeriCorps*VISTA Recruitment
I am writing to you on behalf of the Massachusetts Campus Compact (MACC) as part of our yearly recruitment effort for AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America). I wanted to tell you a little bit about our program, and to request that you please forward this information to any students or faculty who might be interested.
MACC seeks college graduates (of any age) who have demonstrated a commitment to civic engagement and community partnerships on campus and in local communities throughout their college years. The AmeriCorps*VISTA program is a wonderful opportunity for these graduates to gain a broad range of experiences while continuing their roles as active citizens and leaders.
A MACC AmeriCorps*VISTA serves as a community service and service-learning specialist at a specific college or university. VISTAs work to enhance the quality of campus civic engagement programs; build relationships with community-based organizations and help to ensure that colleges and universities are building reciprocal relationships with the communities in which they reside. They act as trainers, mentors, and resource gatherers for staff, faculty, and students. As a team, the MACC AmeriCorps*VISTA members plan and implement statewide events and programs and share models, tools, and ideas for growth.
Each MACC AmeriCorps*VISTA receives a monthly living allowance and can earn a $5,350 education award to be used for future schooling or to pay off student loans. Attached is a flier explaining our program in more detail, including how to apply for a VISTA position. I have provided a link below to our website with more information.
Please do not hesitate to write back with any questions you may have. We at MACC are excited to see a diverse group of new applicants for VISTA this year.
Sincerely,
Blair Read
